Who we are
This website is shared by two separate organizations ("we", "us"):
- Center for Human Progress (US) Inc. is a nonprofit corporation incorporated in Delaware. The US Internal Revenue Service recognizes it as a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 41-2714374). Mailing address: 224 West 35th Street, Suite 500 #491, New York, NY 10001, USA.
- Centre for Human Progress is a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (company number 16630851). Registered office: c/o Russell-Cooke LLP, 8 Bedford Row, London WC1R 4BX, United Kingdom.
The two organizations decide together how this website uses personal data, so they are joint controllers of it. They share responsibility for complying with data protection law for the website. Centre for Human Progress provides this notice and is your point of contact: it answers requests and complaints about how this website uses your data, whichever organization holds the data. You can still contact either organization. If you give to one organization, or work with it, that organization is responsible for the personal data it receives for that purpose.
For privacy questions, email info@centerforhumanprogress.org.

- Why: to receive and acknowledge gifts, issue receipts, manage grants and partnerships, and meet our obligations under tax and charity law.

- Legal basis: legitimate interests, with your agreement to be listed.

You don't have to give us any personal data. If you don't give us your name and email address, we can't reply to you, and we need donors' and partners' details to accept a gift or make an agreement.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
Who we share it with
- Our service providers, who process data for us under contract: Vercel Inc. (website hosting, including the contact form), Sanity (content management) and the email service that delivers contact-form messages to us. Google LLC provides Google Analytics, but only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Each other. Our two organizations share inquiries so that the right one can reply to you.
- Professional advisers, auditors and regulators, and others where the law requires it.
Where your data is held
Our website providers hold your data mainly on servers in the United States, where our US organization is also based. Where UK law requires it, we protect personal data sent from the UK to the US, including data our UK organization shares with our US organization, with safeguards the UK approves: the UK-US data bridge, for providers certified under it, or the UK's international data transfer agreement or addendum. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards at info@centerforhumanprogress.org.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal data;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- restrict how we use it;
- stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests;
- give you the data you provided in a portable format, where that right applies.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. For analytics, use "Cookie settings" on any page. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before.
To use these rights, email info@centerforhumanprogress.org or write to Centre for Human Progress at its registered office. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first at info@centerforhumanprogress.org. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you what we are doing about it. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
If you live in the United States
Some US states also give residents rights over their personal data. If you live in one of them and its law applies to us, contact us and we will respond as that law requires.
Children
This site is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Security
We use established providers and encrypted connections, and we limit access to personal data to the people who need it. No website is completely secure.
Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top.
